Rowan
Cooperative Christian Ministries was founded in 1967 which turned into
Rowan Helping Ministries in 1986. In 1989 RHM moved into the
facilities at 226 North Long Street which has been the permanent home to
the Shelter, Soup Kitchen, and Crisis Assistant Network. In 1996
"The Hope Fund" was established with a $308,000 gift from Hope Uzzell.
The Eagle's Nest Transitional Housing program was established in 1997.
In 2000 RHM's operational budget increased to over $1,000,000.00.
During 2004, Eagle's Nest expanded to include an additional 4 units.
With the support of Rowan County citizens, businesses, and churches, RHM
continues to offer more services than ever as we move into the future.
Our mission is accomplished by:
-
Raising and coordinating the
resources necessary for crisis assistance.
-
Administering the programs and
services for the distribution of resources to those in need.
-
Training and coordinating
volunteers so that they may carry out the mission of Rowan Helping
Ministries programs. Stimulating public and private agency
cooperation in response to crisis needs in Rowan County.
-
Forecasting the community needs and
responding appropriately.
