Trick or Treat So Others May Eat is our annual food drive we hold during the month of October. During the week of October 27th-November 3rd, groups of youth from all over Rowan County will place grocery bags with their name and a description of the event on the porch or doorstep of homes in certain neighborhoods. Residents are encouraged to fill the bag with whatever non-perishable goods they can and the youth will be back to collect the bag on the date specified on their bags. On Sunday, November 4th between 2:00-5:00 pm, the groups will join us at the parking lot of Jeannie's Kitchen/The Shelter (217 North Long Street) to weigh their collections and have a pizza party. Winners will receive a trophy, but all will experience the joy of giving back to our community & those in need!

This year, our goal is to collect 30,000 pounds of food with the help of this community. This food drive will stock our pantry for nearly one month, which is crucial in the months following up to our busiest time of year (Thanksgiving & Christmas). Last year, Mount Hope Church collected 7,428 pounds worth of food which is enough to feed approximately 185 clients through our food pantry. Let's see if we can beat last years record!

Those who cannot leave bags on doorsteps are encouraged to hold a private drive at their church, work, or school in lieu of collecting from neighborhoods. Please specify the location of your drive under "Requested Neighborhood" if you are not able to go door-to-door.

Winner will be announced November 12th.
