Nate Valentine, Food Manager for Jeannie’s Kitchen at Rowan Helping Ministries, will be “in the kitchen” doing a cooking demonstration at the Salisbury Farmer’s Market on Saturday, May 20.
What will he be cooking? Why, “Cheerwine Chili” of course, in honor of Cheerwine’s 100 Year Celebration event which will be taking place in downtown Salisbury on the same day. The Salisbury Farmer’s Market is not an official part of the Cheerwine celebration, but free Cheerwine samples will be handed out along with Nate’s chili and recipe.
Nate’s “Cheerwine Chili” was the top prize winner in the first and second years of the annual chili cookoff hosted by Waterworks Visual Arts Center.
The chili cooking demonstration and tasting will take place from 10 to 11:30 am at the corner of South Jackson and West Fisher across from the Rowan Library.
Rowan Helping Ministries will also be the recipient of the Share the Harvest food drive, which will collect produce to help stock the pantry in Jeannie’s Kitchen at Rowan Helping Ministries.
Rowan Helping Ministries also will be collecting new or gently used twin blankets (not throws) for the shelter.
